Basement remodels are one of those jobs where the electrical work really sets the tone for everything that comes after. Get it wrong at this stage and you're dealing with problems - sometimes expensive ones - once the drywall is back up and the ceiling is finished. That's exactly why we take this phase seriously.

On this Bozeman basement, we came in mid-remodel with the ceiling already opened up. That's actually the best time to tackle a job like this. With full access to the joist bays, we were able to reroute and clean up the existing wiring, add new lighting circuits, and get everything positioned correctly before things get closed back in. New outlets and smoke alarms went in too - placed where they actually make sense for how the space will be used.

The old wiring situation wasn't dangerous, but it wasn't clean either. Basement electrical in older homes tends to be a bit of a patchwork - stuff added over the years without a real plan. Part of what we do on remodel wiring jobs is sort through all of that, figure out what stays, what goes, and what needs to move. Then we run everything fresh and organized so the next trades aren't inheriting a mess.

What you end up with at this stage is a basement that's ready for insulation, drywall, and finish work without any electrical surprises down the road. New circuit runs, proper outlet placement, smoke detection coverage - it's all accounted for. The space is set up to function the right way once it's finished, not just look good from the outside.

This is the kind of mid-remodel electrical work we do regularly across Bozeman. Whether it's a full basement finish, a room addition, or a renovation where walls are already open - if the framing is exposed, it's the right time to get the electrical done properly.
